Responsibilities
- Lead cross-functional engineering projects by defining and designing systems, building proofs of concept, and delivering service functionality.
- Build and maintain backend services, web applications, APIs, data-processing systems, and automation for the 9fin platform.
- Work across frontend and backend development, including financial data modeling, access control, data visualization, and ML/AI prediction services.
- Own features from idea through design, implementation, deployment, and iteration.
- Conduct code reviews, mentor developers, and contribute to systems design, infrastructure discussions, research, and technology experimentation.
- Improve the codebase through automation, refactoring, documentation, feature flags, preview environments, and maintained non-production environments.
- Collaborate with product managers, designers, clients, and financial, legal, and editorial domain experts.
- Explain complex technical projects to non-technical audiences.
Requirements
- Experience as a senior individual contributor who has led systems design and infrastructure discussions, mentored junior team members, and scoped work within cross-functional product teams.
- Comfort working across frontend and backend development rather than specializing in only one area.
- Strong knowledge of modern JavaScript or TypeScript and frameworks such as React, plus experience building scalable backend services and APIs.
- Ability to use AI-assisted development tools such as Cursor, Claude, ChatGPT, and GitHub Copilot while maintaining engineering quality.
- A product mindset and attention to user experience when working with designers and product managers.
- Ability to independently own features from conception through deployment and iteration.
- Strong system-design and problem-solving skills with a focus on balancing delivery speed and long-term maintainability.
