Responsibilities

Build and operate resilient cloud environments capable of supporting continuous operational workloads.
Create infrastructure as code and shared automation tooling that accurately represents deployed environments.
Develop unattended deployment pipelines with observable failures and traceable execution.
Design and operate identity and access, monitoring, telemetry, resilience, capacity, and cost-management capabilities.
Integrate cloud services with legacy systems that cannot be replaced.
Design security controls into systems and generate evidence for federal authorization and accreditation reviews.
Collaborate with network engineers, security staff, and field teams supporting CBP sites.

U.S. citizenship is required.
Active Top Secret clearance with SCI eligibility and the ability to obtain and maintain a CBP Background Investigation and EOD are required; active BI is strongly preferred and processing can begin for candidates who do not hold one.
Production workload experience in a government cloud environment is preferred.
Experience writing infrastructure as code used by other engineers is preferred.
Experience taking a system through a federal authorization process is preferred.
Experience integrating cloud services with legacy systems is preferred.
Experience with more than one cloud platform's tooling is preferred.
Cloud platform and security certifications are useful but do not substitute for relevant hands-on experience.

A $10,000 signing bonus is available to candidates with an active CBP BI, payable after 90 days under standard terms.
Hybrid work in Reston, Virginia, 3-5 days.
Candidates without an active CBP BI may enter a processing pipeline that takes months rather than weeks.
