Responsibilities
- Define a forward-looking software development vision aligned with enterprise initiatives.
- Assess tools, processes, and practices across software groups and identify gaps, inefficiencies, and best practices.
- Develop and execute a multi-year roadmap to standardize and modernize software development practices across product lines.
- Lead migrations from legacy build environments to preferred toolchains while minimizing disruption to active programs.
- Coordinate with Software Quality Assurance and certification teams to ensure processes and tools are acceptable for DO-178B/DO-178C compliance.
- Update plans, standards, and lifecycle data as needed for certification and compliance.
- Serve as the technical liaison between Interiors software teams and corporate engineering and IT initiatives involving DevSecOps, tooling, and methods.
- Support software engineer capability development through training, documentation, and onboarding materials.
- Maintain productivity, quality, and certifiability during adoption of new methods and toolchains.
Requirements
- Typically requires a STEM degree and at least 12 years of relevant experience, or an advanced degree in a related field and at least 10 years of experience.
- Demonstrated experience leading cross-team or cross-organizational process and tool transformations, including SCM and CI/CD migrations.
- Hands-on experience with Git-based workflows and common DevOps toolchains, including GitLab or similar tools, artifact repositories such as Artifactory, CI/CD pipelines, and test automation frameworks.
- Ability to influence and lead without direct line authority in complex, multi-site, or multi-business environments.
- Strong communication skills and the ability to translate technical concepts and metrics into business impacts involving schedule, cost, quality, and risk.
- Preferred experience in aerospace, automotive, medical devices, or other safety-critical, mission-critical, or highly regulated industries.
- Preferred familiarity with DO-178B/DO-178C, including Levels D and E, and integrating modern methods and tools into those frameworks.
- Preferred experience with model-based design or model-based systems engineering, such as MATLAB, Simulink, or SysML, in a certifiable context.
- Preferred background leading secure development practices and integrating security into the software lifecycle.
- Preferred experience harmonizing tools and processes across acquired organizations or fragmented teams.
