Responsibilities
- Design, develop, maintain, and optimize WLAN L-MAC microcode using custom Assembly for IEEE 802.11 standards.
- Drive system-level power optimization for WLAN protocol compliance and performance targets.
- Perform pre-silicon MAC-layer verification using Tcl and Python scripting in simulation environments.
- Define, document, and verify L-MAC interfaces with PHY Systems, Firmware, and Hardware Design teams.
- Support silicon bring-up, validation, performance tuning, and packet-processing and power-saving optimization.
- Debug and resolve complex issues across WLAN MAC, PHY, firmware, and chip-level subsystems.
- Identify design and workflow gaps and improve architecture, verification methodologies, and engineering practices.
- Mentor, coach, and train engineering team members while promoting technical excellence.
- Create and maintain technical documentation, design collateral, training materials, and technical content.
- Coordinate with global stakeholders and engineering teams to support project execution and product delivery.
Requirements
- 10+ years of industry experience with a Master’s degree, or 12+ years with a Bachelor’s degree, in Electronics, Computer Science, Electrical Engineering, or a related discipline.
- Expertise in wireless communication systems, embedded systems, and low-level software or firmware development.
- Hands-on Assembly and C programming experience for real-time, performance-critical wireless applications.
- Deep knowledge of IEEE 802.11 standards, Wi-Fi protocols, MAC architecture, and feature implementation.
- Experience with Wi-Fi protocol analysis, debugging, and performance optimization using Wireshark or comparable diagnostic tools.
- Experience with silicon bring-up, system validation, and root-cause analysis in complex embedded wireless systems.
- Advanced debugging skills using GDB, crash dump analysis, stack trace investigation, and performance profiling tools.
- Ability to analyze issues across MAC, PHY, firmware, and SoC or chip subsystems.
- Proficiency in Python and Tcl scripting and automation; SystemC exposure is advantageous.
- Understanding of software development methodologies, verification flows, and engineering best practices.
- Proven ability to lead technical initiatives, influence architecture and design decisions, and work in global matrixed organizations.
- Strong communication, stakeholder management, mentoring, analytical, and problem-solving skills.
