Responsibilities
- Manage the discovery-to-scale pipeline by identifying recurring field patterns and handing validated solutions to Platform Engineers for enterprise generalization.
- Design and build data integrations, storage systems, infrastructure, and applications that enable analytics and AI capabilities.
- Rapidly deliver technical solutions while embedding with users to discover latent needs and translate them into clear problem statements.
- Define scalable architectures, make technical trade-offs, and balance custom solutions with generalizable enterprise work.
- Establish cloud infrastructure, Infrastructure as Code, and end-to-end delivery pipelines for data solutions.
- Develop data models and safely manage complex schema migrations in production.
- Define and monitor SLOs and SLIs, ensure graceful degradation, and implement post-incident reliability improvements.
- Influence multiple teams and stakeholders while delivering tangible business results in a high-complexity environment.
Requirements
- Bachelor's degree in Computer Science or Engineering and 8–12 years of relevant experience leading and delivering complex data engineering projects.
- Expertise designing, building, and maintaining scalable ETL/ELT pipelines across complex enterprise data landscapes and undocumented schemas.
- Deep experience with cloud data infrastructure on AWS, Azure, or GCP, plus Infrastructure as Code using Terraform or CloudFormation.
- Strong conceptual, logical, and physical data modeling skills, including production schema migration management and query-performance trade-offs.
- Experience incorporating AI tools into data engineering workflows and designing validation and evaluation frameworks for AI/ML model deployment and governance.
- Ability to rapidly prototype and build complete end-to-end data applications across diverse technology stacks while managing technical debt.
- Direct experience defining and monitoring SLOs and SLIs, designing resilient systems, and driving post-incident improvements.
- Ability to make architectural trade-offs, design scalable components, and produce high-quality, well-tested enterprise code.
- Ability to work autonomously, navigate ambiguity, immerse in new business domains, communicate precisely with technical and business stakeholders, and own outcomes.
