Base Salary
$160k - $180k/yr
Responsibilities
- Design, implement, and maintain reliable production software for travel search and trip-planning experiences.
- Build and evolve APIs and services supporting AI-assisted search, conversational travel planning, itineraries, smart filters, and AI-generated hotel review summaries.
- Investigate technical problems, assess trade-offs, and improve reliability, performance, and maintainability.
- Write automated unit, integration, and end-to-end tests and contribute to software quality.
- Participate in code reviews and technical discussions with a focus on correctness, clarity, and maintainability.
- Collaborate with engineers, product managers, and designers to deliver useful and accessible user experiences.
- Monitor production behavior through debugging, observability, and root-cause analysis.
- Contribute to development tools, engineering processes, delivery practices, documentation, pairing, and knowledge sharing.
Requirements
- Experience building and maintaining production software.
- Proficiency in Java or another relevant programming language.
- Familiarity with APIs, data structures, and software-design principles.
- Experience testing software and investigating defects or production issues.
- Ability to explain technical decisions clearly in writing and conversation.
- Ability to take ownership while seeking input or support when needed.
- Experience contributing to projects from design through implementation, release, and maintenance.
- Equivalent practical experience is accepted in place of a specific degree or educational path.
- Preferred experience includes distributed systems, search, personalization, high-volume consumer products, AI, machine learning, large language model applications, relational databases, structured data stores, web or mobile products, travel products, accessibility, reliability, usability, Java, Spring, cloud services, CI/CD pipelines, and automated testing frameworks.
