Responsibilities

  • Manage containers and CI/CD pipelines for software deployment, testing, and traceable updates.
  • Configure and maintain networked hardware-in-the-loop systems used for development, testing, and commissioning.
  • Design and maintain infrastructure-as-code solutions and automated deployment processes.
  • Define and own secure software development and deployment procedures for software, firmware, and gateware.
  • Own lab system management, system-down response, uptime planning, backups, and recovery procedures.
  • Collaborate with software and hardware engineers and document processes and system configurations.
  • Support physical on-site hardware, network management, and server administration for in-house research laboratories.

Requirements

  • At least 4 years of DevOps experience working with embedded devices.
  • Experience developing and maintaining CI/CD, build, test, and release processes for systems combining software with embedded hardware, firmware, or FPGA gateware.
  • Strong Linux systems administration skills covering networking, permissions, service management, and troubleshooting.
  • Proficiency with automation and scripting using Python, Bash, or similar languages.
  • Experience with Git-based workflows, automated testing, artifact repositories, versioned releases, and traceability across code, builds, deployments, and hardware configurations.
  • Hands-on experience with containers and infrastructure or configuration management tools such as Docker, Podman, Ansible, Terraform, or Nix.
  • Experience with complex networked systems, embedded systems, and production-grade systems.
  • Bachelor’s degree in computer science, engineering, or a related field, or equivalent qualifications and extensive experience.
  • Baseline Personnel Security Standard clearance is required and will be arranged for the successful candidate.
  • Desirable qualifications include hardware-in-the-loop testing, embedded Linux, cross-compilation, RTOS or FPGA workflows, observability, secure software supply chains, laboratory networking, on-premises infrastructure, disaster recovery, and multidisciplinary engineering collaboration.
  • Professional-level verbal and written communication skills are required.
