Responsibilities

  • Define physics architecture, including data models, simulation loops, solver strategies, and engine integration points.
  • Build collision detection, entity controllers, vehicle dynamics, orbital mechanics, particle and fluid systems, and atmospheric dynamics.
  • Integrate physics with gameplay, animation, rendering pipelines, authoring tools, runtime hooks, inverse kinematics, state machines, and event systems.
  • Profile and optimize frame time and memory, lead multithreading, Job System, and SIMD efforts, and evaluate GPU compute opportunities.
  • Establish test suites, golden scenarios, verification and validation practices, and techniques to reduce simulation instability.
  • Build debugging tools, visualizers, probes, and authoring pipelines for designers and QA.
  • Lead cross-functional technical efforts with backend, AI, data pipeline, and platform teams, including milestone alignment and trade-off communication.
  • Participate in code reviews and design documentation while mentoring developers and maintaining coding and documentation standards.

Requirements

  • BS/MS in Computer Science, Software Engineering, Physics, or Mathematics, or equivalent practical experience.
  • 5+ years of real-time or game physics engineering experience and at least two shipped titles with substantial physics ownership.
  • Expertise in modern C++, data-oriented design, memory management, profiling, and debugging.
  • Knowledge of rigid-body dynamics, collision detection, integration schemes, numerical stability, constraint solvers, and real-time performance trade-offs.
  • Experience integrating physics with animation, gameplay systems, and rendering pipelines.
  • Experience with multithreading, job systems, SIMD/vectorization, cache-friendly data structures, and frame/memory budgeting.
  • Preferred: 5+ years with modern game engines or middleware such as Unreal Engine, Unity, Havok, Bullet, or PhysX.
  • Preferred: custom engine experience and 3+ years of advanced simulation involving fracture systems, granular materials, vehicle tire models, buoyancy or aerodynamic effects, or GPU compute.
  • Preferred: deterministic networking, rollback/prediction, server-authority models, cross-platform latency mitigation, and shipping on Xbox, PlayStation, Switch, and PC.
  • Preferred: Python, C#, or Lua for tools and editor extensions, plus physics visualization, debugging overlays, content pipelines, and platform certification experience.

Benefits

  • Competitive salary and meaningful equity.
  • Attractive benefits package, flexible time off, medical, dental, and vision insurance.
  • HSA health insurance options, 401k plan, and basic and voluntary life insurance.
