Responsibilities
- Lead a team responsible for Linux and VMware initiator stack behavior and Fibre Channel and NIC drivers on Pure Storage arrays.
- Develop, debug, enhance, and maintain Linux initiator stacks, storage device drivers, Fibre Channel stacks, NIC drivers, and related utilities.
- Maintain Linux kernels for internal testing and contribute bug fixes and enhancements upstream.
- Evaluate and optimize Linux initiator behavior and storage performance for Pure Storage FlashArray.
- Maintain Purety’s Fibre Channel SCSI target driver, including hardware updates, enhancements, and bug fixes.
- Resolve difficult Fibre Channel, protocol, kernel, system, and storage-attachment issues, including multipathing and link-health projects.
- Document supported customer configurations and VMware compatibility.
- Work with C++ middleware modules and develop test automation.
- Mentor engineers and lead projects through high-quality, timely delivery.
Requirements
- At least 5 years of software development experience; candidates typically have 15 or more years of experience.
- Strong experience writing Linux/Unix device drivers or developing Linux kernels, preferably for storage or networking.
- Experience designing and implementing significant components in storage protocol stacks and storage systems.
- Experience with SCSI, FC-SCSI, iSCSI/FCP, NVMe Fabrics, NVMe/RoCE, NVMe/TCP, or NVMe/FC.
- Experience with Linux storage device drivers, including Fibre Channel, NVMe, RoCE, block, and multipath modules.
- Experience with VMware and its initiator stack.
- Experience analyzing and optimizing storage performance.
- Experience debugging difficult storage attachment, protocol, kernel, and system issues.
- Experience developing in C, C++, and Python.
- Experience with TCP/IP and other network protocols.
- Experience leading engineers technically, mentoring junior engineers, and delivering projects on time with high quality.
- Experience developing test automation; Linux code upstreaming experience is preferred.
