Responsibilities
- Design and build production LLM, NLP, machine learning, data pipeline, and ML service systems.
- Develop evaluation, monitoring, traceability, and human-in-the-loop capabilities to improve AI reliability and detect hallucinations.
- Define AI system architecture and engineering standards, make model and build-versus-buy decisions, and balance accuracy, cost, and speed.
- Lead ambiguous AI initiatives from problem framing through delivery in collaboration with product, customers, and domain experts.
- Build reusable evaluation tooling, deployment pipelines, and data practices.
- Lead design and code reviews, write design documentation, mentor engineers, and help improve hiring and team development.
- Track developments in LLMs and applied machine learning and turn promising experiments into product capabilities.
- Communicate technical decisions and trade-offs to technical and non-technical stakeholders.
Requirements
- 8+ years building and shipping machine learning systems with technical leadership on production work.
- Strong Python skills and experience writing clean, maintainable, production-ready code and owning services through production support.
- Deep hands-on experience with machine learning, NLP, deep learning, and modern LLMs.
- Experience designing evaluation frameworks and metrics and monitoring models after deployment.
- Strong foundations in statistics, probability, and linear algebra.
- Experience building and running ML services at scale with Docker and AWS, including serverless systems.
- History of making architectural and technical decisions adopted by others and leading projects without formal authority.
- Experience mentoring engineers and improving team engineering practices.
- Comfort with ambiguous, open-ended problems and excellent communication with technical and non-technical audiences.
- Master's degree in Computer Science, Machine Learning, Statistics, Engineering, Mathematics, or a related field, or equivalent practical experience.
- Preferred experience with LLMs for extraction, classification, structured outputs, and document reasoning.
- Preferred background in compliance, HR technology, regulatory, or other sensitive and audit-heavy domains.
- Preferred experience with explainability and human-in-the-loop design.
- Preferred experience with Terraform or other infrastructure as code.
