Responsibilities

  • Advise teams on pragmatic technical approaches that promote engineering excellence and developer happiness.
  • Create coherent, iterative plans for delivering effective solutions.
  • Architect scalable web APIs, component libraries, and backend systems aligned with team roadmaps.
  • Collaborate with Data Science, Product, Design, and senior engineers to solve cross-functional technical challenges.
  • Advise on technical debt consolidation in support of business needs.
  • Mentor engineers, lead by example, and conduct rigorous code and technical specification reviews.
  • Identify system-wide bottlenecks and performance issues and propose actionable solutions.
  • Contribute significantly to critical projects that deliver customer value.

Requirements

  • At least 6 years of experience building highly performant web applications with strong user experiences.
  • Experience with or strong preference for React, TypeScript, GraphQL, Ruby on Rails, and Go.
  • Extensive experience using a test-driven approach with one or more core full-stack or comparable technologies.
  • Experience collaborating with Product and Design to deliver end-to-end product experiences.
  • Experience with relational databases and key-value stores.
  • Experience analyzing, benchmarking, and optimizing web application performance across the full stack.
  • Experience leading large-scale legacy-system modernization efforts from start to finish.
  • Ability to simplify complex problems and provide pragmatic technical approaches.
