Base Salary
$131k - $237k/yr
Responsibilities
- Provide technical leadership and direction for software development teams of 5–15 engineers.
- Define full-stack software architecture and design patterns for missile system applications covering guidance, navigation, control, telemetry, and mission planning.
- Lead technical, design, and code reviews and ensure software quality, compliance, modularity, reusability, portability, and maintainability.
- Make technical decisions regarding tools, frameworks, and development approaches.
- Serve as the primary technical interface with government customers, end users, and program management.
- Mentor and develop junior and mid-level software engineers.
- Champion open systems architectures and Modular Open Systems Approach principles.
- Support flight test operations and post-test analysis.
- Ensure adherence to military and aviation safety, cybersecurity, and RMF requirements.
Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree in software engineering, computer science, computer engineering, electrical engineering, aerospace engineering, mathematics, or an equivalent technical field, with a minimum 3.0 GPA.
- At least 12 years of relevant technical experience, or 10 years with a related master’s degree.
- U.S. citizenship and eligibility to obtain and maintain a U.S. Department of Defense security clearance.
- Relevant experience developing, integrating, testing, or troubleshooting embedded software or embedded-adjacent applications interfacing with embedded systems.
- Experience leading software development teams on multidisciplinary projects.
- Expert-level C/C++ experience.
- Experience with Python or Java and familiarity with real-time embedded systems and RTOS environments such as VxWorks or FreeRTOS.
- Experience with software configuration management, software quality engineering, and software development standards and practices.
- Preferred experience with open systems architectures, MOSA, FACE, OMS, SOSA, embedded missile or aerospace systems, guidance and control, navigation, mission planning, sensors, MBSE, SysML, DO-178C, MIL-STD-882e, Docker, Kubernetes, MATLAB, and Simulink.
- Preferred formal software leadership experience involving direct reports, staffing, or performance management, plus strong communication, problem-solving, architecture, and systems-thinking skills.
