Responsibilities
- Lead the design, development, testing, and troubleshooting of real-time, bare-metal firmware and embedded systems.
- Deliver firmware libraries and support new component introductions while ensuring requirements and schedules are met.
- Translate system design requirements and hardware dependencies into embedded requirements.
- Lead embedded software implementation using modern software engineering processes and conduct peer reviews of designs and source code.
- Establish and execute test procedures for software applications and subsystems.
- Analyze and improve system resource efficiency, stability, and scalability.
- Track projects, develop work breakdown structures, manage milestones, and escalate business risks or barriers.
- Mentor, guide, and coach junior engineers.
- Use oscilloscopes, digital probes, power supplies, electronic loads, logic analyzers, and data acquisition systems.
- Communicate project progress across the organization and travel domestically and internationally up to 10%.
Requirements
- Bachelor of Science degree in Computer Engineering, Computer Science, Electrical Engineering, or a related field.
- At least 5 years of experience with embedded C/C++.
- Experience with bare-metal firmware design and RTOS integration.
- Experience with automated testing, DevOps, and continuous integration/continuous deployment.
- Knowledge of all software development lifecycle phases.
- Familiarity with software configuration management tools, defect tracking tools, and peer reviews.
- Ability to read schematics and component data sheets and understand digital circuits and firmware-electronics interaction.
- Practical experience using oscilloscopes, logic analyzers, power supplies, electronic loads, and data acquisition systems.
- Strong problem-solving, independent judgment, communication, and performance-under-pressure skills.
- Preferred qualifications include a relevant master’s degree and leadership or project management experience.
- Ability to travel 10% domestically and internationally.
