Responsibilities
- Own complex technical initiatives from design through production deployment and operational excellence.
- Set the architectural direction for highly available, resilient, and low-latency backend distribution APIs and services.
- Translate business requirements into robust technical solutions with product, editorial, and engineering stakeholders.
- Prioritize technical workstreams, identify and mitigate risks, and deliver high-impact outcomes.
- Champion code quality, testing, CI/CD, observability, incident response, monitoring, alerting, on-call processes, and post-incident analysis.
- Perform code reviews, drive performance improvements across services, caching layers, and data stores, and maintain technical documentation.
- Mentor and coach engineers while fostering ownership, collaboration, and continuous improvement.
Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Systems, Software Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Electronics Engineering, or a comparable field, and/or equivalent work experience.
- At least 5 years of experience building and operating highly available, distributed backend systems in production.
- Strong experience designing and developing large-scale backend services using Golang and/or Java.
- Experience deploying and scaling services in cloud infrastructure, preferably AWS.
- Deep understanding of caching technologies such as Redis or Memcached.
- Experience with CI/CD pipelines, source control systems, and observability tools for metrics, logging, and monitoring.
- Experience with Git, GitLab, Jenkins, Datadog, or Grafana is cited as relevant tooling.
- Proven leadership, coaching, mentoring, problem-solving, communication, and collaboration skills.
- Experience working in Agile/Scrum development environments.
