Base Salary

$142k - $213k/yr

Responsibilities

  • Develop and maintain Java and Rust code for low-latency event-sourced application systems.
  • Build application frameworks and algorithmic trading utilities, including market-data replay and backtesting or simulation tools.
  • Analyze complex business and system processes to design and implement technical solutions.
  • Optimize performance for systems with response times in the 10–100 microsecond range.
  • Consult with end users, define system specifications, and contribute to overall system design and architecture.
  • Mentor junior and less experienced senior Java developers and support application modernization across technology teams.
  • Communicate with senior leaders and external parties while contributing to integration, project delivery, and process improvements.

Requirements

  • 6–10 years of relevant experience in applications development or systems analysis.
  • Bachelor’s degree or equivalent experience; a master’s degree is preferred.
  • Subject matter expertise in applications development and extensive experience programming software applications.
  • In-depth experience with algorithmic trading application development, preferably in a low-latency environment.
  • Detailed knowledge of market-data handling and associated technologies, including time-series databases such as KDB.
  • Strong knowledge of modern Java, the JVM, Linux, system calls, the kernel, TCP and IP-based networking, and hardware-accelerated kernel bypass technologies such as Solarflare OpenOnload.
  • Experience with performance assessment, targeted tuning, application frameworks, systems architecture, and project implementation.
  • Demonstrated leadership, project management, development, communication, mentoring, relationship-building, and consensus-building skills.
  • Experience with C++ is preferred.
  • Ability to produce clear technical documentation and model key aspects with UML sequence diagrams.
