Responsibilities

  • Develop infrastructure as code practices to enhance automation.
  • Automate software operations for consistency across cloud environments.
  • Improve resilience and scalability of Canonical's cloud and container portfolio.
  • Maintain operational responsibility for core services and infrastructure.
  • Set up and maintain observability tools and monitoring systems.
  • Collaborate with development teams on service architecture and operational procedures.
  • Assist globally distributed engineering and operations teams.
  • Focus on larger projects and automation of manual tasks.
  • Share best practices and mentor team members.
  • Handle time-critical escalations.

Requirements

  • Deep experience in defining operations in code using version control and CI/CD.
  • Strong background in modern engineering practices like peer-review and Agile.
  • Experience in Python software development with large projects.
  • Practical knowledge of Linux networking, routing, and firewalls.
  • Familiarity with various forms of Linux storage.
  • Hands-on experience administering enterprise Linux servers.
  • Extensive knowledge of cloud computing concepts and technologies.
  • Bachelor's degree in computer science or related field.
  • Effective communication skills in English.
  • Motivated to troubleshoot and learn new technologies.
  • Willingness to work flexibly in a distributed team.
  • Passionate about open-source technologies, especially Ubuntu or Debian.
