Responsibilities
- Lead technical strategy for transitioning HubSpot from fixed SaaS subscriptions to flexible usage-based, commit-based, and enterprise pricing models.
- Own architecture for contract lifecycle management, usage metering, entitlement enforcement, and pricing extensibility using the Corex contract orchestration framework.
- Write production code, lead design reviews, and own large initiatives from architecture through rollout.
- Drive multi-team technical efforts across Adaptive Monetization and the broader fintech organization.
- Incrementally improve load-bearing legacy systems while maintaining reliability, resilience, and observability.
- Translate architecture and technical tradeoffs for finance, compliance, legal, and executive stakeholders.
- Mentor senior and staff engineers, align with other principal engineers, and participate in recruiting.
Requirements
- Proven experience designing and evolving distributed systems with strict financial correctness requirements, such as billing, payments, contract management, or usage metering infrastructure.
- Experience at a publicly traded company where audit rigor, compliance constraints, and real-money consequences shaped software development.
- Ability to make incremental progress on complex legacy systems that cannot be paused or rewritten.
- Strong executive communication skills, including the ability to explain technical architecture to CFOs and compliance officers.
- Deep backend engineering expertise in financial logic, data models, and service contracts; this is not a platform, DevEx, or infrastructure role.
- Strong mentoring orientation and comfort operating with ambiguity.
