Responsibilities
- Architect, design, and implement low-level embedded software for aircraft systems and functionality.
- Adapt existing aircraft embedded software for manufacturing, tooling, and specialized test applications.
- Contribute technical insight to conceptual system design within a cross-functional engineering team.
- Develop production-ready embedded software for hardware-in-the-loop test setups, automated test equipment, and factory-line operations.
- Analyze embedded flight systems and protocols to diagnose issues, optimize performance, and repurpose firmware for new uses.
Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering, Computer Science, Computer Engineering, Mechatronics, Physics, Mathematics, Robotics, or a related technical field plus 3+ years of relevant embedded software experience; or a related master’s degree plus 1+ years of experience; or equivalent demonstrated experience through a portfolio of designed and deployed embedded software systems.
- Demonstrated knowledge of C++ and object-oriented programming, including experience with multilayered system architectures.
- Understanding of hardware from an embedded software engineering perspective.
- Experience with modern integrated development environments and debuggers.
- Hands-on experience with oscilloscopes, logic analyzers, protocol analyzers, voltmeters, or similar test and measurement equipment.
- Understanding of ARM Cortex-M0, Cortex-M3, Cortex-M4, Cortex-A8, or Cortex-A9 microcontroller and microprocessor architectures.
- Knowledge of communication protocols including I2C, CAN, SPI, and UART.
- Preferred experience with real-time operating systems, safety-critical embedded systems, modern software engineering processes, and DO178C requirements authoring and verification.
- Ability to work onsite in Santa Cruz, California three days per week.
