Responsibilities
- Architect scalable and reliable systems for high-volume tax calculations with zero tolerance for errors.
- Own features end-to-end from design through production and deliver measurable business impact.
- Set standards for code quality, testing practices, and technical documentation.
- Build systems that prioritize tax correctness, reliability, and regulatory compliance.
- Solve software challenges involving millions of payroll transactions, multiple countries, and thousands of jurisdictions.
- Partner with compliance, product, and platform teams to translate tax requirements into technical solutions.
Requirements
- 5+ years of software engineering experience.
- Strong system design skills and experience building distributed, high-reliability systems.
- Proficiency in Python and experience with Django or similar MVC-pattern frameworks.
- Demonstrated ownership and autonomous delivery of impactful projects.
- Rigorous approach to correctness, including testing, edge-case handling, and failure-mode analysis.
- Ability to navigate ambiguity and drive clarity in complex problem spaces.
- Clear communication skills and ability to influence technical decisions.
- Preferred: experience in fintech, payroll, tax, compliance-critical systems, domain-specific languages, rule engines, MongoDB, or Temporal.
