Responsibilities
- Design, develop, test, deploy, and operate large-scale distributed services and platform components.
- Drive feature development from requirements through implementation, production deployment, and support.
- Improve service scalability, reliability, availability, performance, latency, throughput, resource efficiency, and storage utilization.
- Investigate and resolve complex production issues across distributed systems.
- Develop telemetry, monitoring, diagnostics, and automated recovery mechanisms.
- Contribute to architecture reviews and technical decision-making.
- Collaborate across teams to deliver end-to-end platform solutions.
- Apply AI-assisted development tools and AI-native engineering practices.
- Build automation for testing, validation, deployment, and operational workflows.
- Mentor engineers and champion code quality, design discussions, and operational best practices.
- Participate in on-call rotations and reduce operational burden through engineering improvements.
- Use production data and insights to guide technical investments and architecture evolution.
Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science or a related technical field and 4+ years of technical engineering experience with coding, or equivalent experience.
- Coding experience in languages including C, C++, C#, Java, JavaScript, or Python.
- Ability to meet Microsoft Cloud Background Check and other applicable Microsoft, customer, or government security screening requirements.
- Preferred: master’s degree and 6+ years of technical engineering experience, or bachelor’s degree and 8+ years of experience, or equivalent experience.
- Understanding of data structures, algorithms, operating systems, and software design principles.
- Experience building and operating cloud services or distributed systems.
- Experience with service reliability, production operations, monitoring, and troubleshooting.
- Ability to independently drive projects from conception to production.
- Strong analytical, problem-solving, communication, and collaboration skills.
