Base Salary
$117k - $209k/yr
Responsibilities
- Design, implement, test, document, and maintain production-quality SDKs and reusable software components.
- Develop in modern C#/.NET and C++, including communication and interoperability between managed and native components.
- Design developer-facing APIs with attention to usability, maintainability, backward compatibility, versioning, deprecation, and migration.
- Collaborate with Autodesk product and platform teams and represent technical designs in engineering discussions.
- Develop automated unit tests and contribute to integration, compatibility, consumer, and performance testing strategies.
- Own software delivery activities including builds, packaging, dependency management, CI/CD, artifact publishing, and releases.
- Create and maintain NuGet packages, including versioning, signing, publishing, and dependency management.
- Use AI-assisted development tools responsibly by validating generated code and maintaining software quality.
- Investigate unfamiliar technologies, develop expertise, share knowledge, and contribute to informal mentoring of other engineers.
Requirements
- Strong demonstrated software engineering experience developing production-quality software.
- Strong experience with modern C#/.NET and modern C++.
- Experience working across C# and C++ boundaries or with comparable managed/native interoperability.
- Experience designing and implementing SDKs, libraries, or developer-facing APIs.
- Strong understanding of API design, developer experience, backward compatibility, versioning, and downstream consumer impact.
- Strong experience with automated unit testing, testability, software build, packaging, dependency management, continuous integration, source control, and collaborative development workflows.
- Strong technical communication skills and the ability to discuss and refine architecture and implementation approaches.
- Ability to work independently across unfamiliar technology areas and develop new technical expertise.
- Practical experience using AI-assisted development tools such as GitHub Copilot, Claude Code, Cursor, ChatGPT, or comparable technologies.
- Ability to use AI-assisted development responsibly, including validating generated code, managing context, maintaining quality, and recognizing when further investigation is needed.
- Formal education is not required; a strong foundation in computer science and software engineering may come from education, professional experience, or other demonstrated technical work.
- Preferred qualifications include multi-product SDK experience, integration or performance testing, CloudBees or similar CI/CD platforms, NuGet, Artifactory or similar repositories, complex native and managed dependencies, computational geometry or CAD, Linux, performance profiling, cloud systems, specification-driven development, and developer documentation.
