Responsibilities
- Understand product requirements, technical designs, and implementation details with software engineers, architects, and team members.
- Design, develop, test, debug, and maintain software components, tools, and features for F5 products.
- Implement new functionality, enhance existing systems, and fix defects for project and maintenance releases.
- Participate in code reviews, technical discussions, and design reviews.
- Troubleshoot technical issues and assist with analyzing, debugging, and resolving product problems.
- Write clean, maintainable, and documented code following engineering best practices.
- Create and maintain technical documentation, including design notes and implementation details.
- Research technical topics, evaluate solutions, and adapt to new tools and technologies.
- Use AI tools and modern developer resources to support research, problem-solving, productivity, and software development.
- Follow F5’s Business Code of Ethics and applicable company policies.
Requirements
- Be a third- or fourth-year student working toward a degree in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, Software Engineering, or a related field, or have equivalent practical experience.
- Understand software development fundamentals, including data structures, algorithms, and object-oriented or modular design.
- Have experience with one or more scripting languages such as Bash, Python, Perl, or JavaScript.
- Have experience with one or more programming languages such as Java, C, C++, or Go.
- Be familiar with Linux development environments and source control tools such as Git or Perforce.
- Understand basic networking concepts and application protocols, especially HTTP and HTTPS.
- Familiarity with web application development, backend systems, or APIs is a plus.
- Have exposure to CI/CD principles, testing practices, and software development lifecycle processes.
- Demonstrate analytical, problem-solving, independent learning, research, communication, collaboration, accountability, and attention-to-detail skills.
- Have excellent spoken and written English.
- Be comfortable using AI-assisted tools responsibly for learning, coding efficiency, and technical research.
Benefits
- Internship duration is 1,040 hours.
- Candidate must be available to start immediately.
- Schedule requires a minimum of 20 hours per week and up to 100 hours per month.
