Responsibilities

  • Design, develop, and maintain computer vision and optical inspection solutions for industrial production.
  • Develop and support AOI applications using Cognex In-Sight Explorer, EasyBuilder, and Spreadsheet programming.
  • Collect, organize, store, and analyze image and production data to improve inspection performance.
  • Apply image-processing, machine-learning, and AI techniques to vision applications.
  • Perform camera calibration and implement coordinate transformations between camera, robot, tool, and world coordinate systems.
  • Select and test cameras, lenses, lighting, and other vision hardware.
  • Develop, test, and deploy vision applications in Linux and Docker or other containerized environments.
  • Troubleshoot vision systems, investigate inspection failures and calibration issues, and provide production equipment support.
  • Maintain datasets, inspection results, production records, experiment configurations, data versions, and software versions.
  • Assist with deploying and monitoring computer vision and machine-learning solutions in development and production environments.
  • Collaborate with automation, equipment, manufacturing, and software engineers and participate in technical reviews.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree or equivalent experience in computer science, computer engineering, mechatronics, robotics, automation, or a related field.
  • At least two years of experience developing computer vision, optical inspection, or AOI solutions.
  • Programming skills in Python, C++, or a similar language and practical experience with OpenCV or comparable computer vision libraries.
  • Experience collecting, storing, annotating, analyzing, and evaluating image data.
  • Basic understanding of machine-learning and AI methods used in computer vision.
  • Experience with Linux systems, command-line tools, VS Code or a similar development environment, and Docker or comparable container technologies.
  • Familiarity with camera calibration, image formation, coordinate transformations, Cognex In-Sight Explorer, EasyBuilder, or Spreadsheet programming.
  • Understanding of industrial production processes and vision-system troubleshooting.
  • Basic knowledge of Git and software development practices.
  • High proficiency in English at C1/C2 level.
  • Advantageous qualifications include ROS or ROS 2, PyTorch or TensorFlow, Azure Machine Learning, Azure MLOps, model versioning, experiment tracking, dataset management, automated ML pipelines, industrial communication protocols, PLCs, industrial robots, barcode readers, automated testing, and cloud-based or real-time computer vision.
