Responsibilities

  • Conduct R&D focused on quantum applications and algorithms.
  • Deploy software optimizations to the Superstaq cloud platform using documentation, linting, testing, and type-checking practices.
  • Interface with Superstaq customers to understand their needs and provide timely support.
  • Contribute to government and commercial proposals and global program execution.
  • Collaborate with experimental physicists and software engineers to translate theoretical concepts into practical implementations.
  • Publish research findings in scientific journals and present at conferences.
  • Track developments in quantum computer architecture, quantum compilation, and related fields.
  • Provide guidance and support to other team members.

Requirements

  • A master’s degree in quantum applications, mathematics, engineering, physics, or a directly related field is required.
  • High programming proficiency is required, with fluency in Python preferred.
  • Experience with open-source quantum software frameworks such as Cirq or Qiskit is required.
  • Professional-level verbal, written, and presentation communication skills are required.
  • Ability to work collaboratively across organizational levels and in cross-functional, matrixed environments is required.
  • Ability to learn complex topics quickly, solve problems resourcefully, and execute productization efforts is required.
  • Desirable qualifications include a PhD in quantum computation, physics, computer science, or a related field.
  • Desirable knowledge includes quantum error correction, fault tolerance, native gate decomposition, qubit mapping and routing, variational quantum algorithms, and material science applications.
  • Desirable experience includes software engineering practices, backend development, cloud development, GitHub workflows, security best practices, and frontend or GUI development.
