Responsibilities

  • Develop understanding of the Linux stack from the kernel, networking, and storage through the application layer
  • Design, build, and maintain solutions deployed on public clouds, private clouds, and local workstations
  • Work with Kubernetes and machine-oriented open-source applications
  • Build and integrate data analytics and MLOps solutions using open-source tools
  • Master distributed systems concepts including observability, identity, and tracing
  • Collaborate proactively with distributed engineers, designers, and product managers
  • Debug issues and interact publicly with upstream and Ubuntu communities
  • Generate ideas, discuss tradeoffs, and collaborate on effective technical solutions

Requirements

  • Professional or academic software delivery experience using Python
  • Exceptional academic track record from high school and university
  • Undergraduate degree in a technical subject or a compelling narrative demonstrating an alternative path
  • Experience with Linux, preferably Debian or Ubuntu
  • Professional written and spoken English with excellent presentation skills
  • Ability to collaborate effectively across multicultural, multinational, and distributed teams
  • Passion for technology demonstrated through personal projects or initiatives
  • Ability to travel twice a year for company events of up to two weeks
  • Hands-on experience with machine learning libraries or tools is helpful
  • Experience building highly automated machine learning solutions for the cloud is helpful
  • Experience with Docker, LXD, Kubernetes, or other container technologies is helpful
  • Experience with AWS, Azure, or Google Cloud is helpful
  • Working knowledge of cloud computing is helpful
  • Passion for software quality and testing is helpful
  • Open-source project experience is helpful
