Responsibilities
- Own end-to-end frontend architecture for one or more scanning electron microscope domains, including client applications, shared UI infrastructure, rendering, and real-time data flows.
- Design and evolve large frontend architectures using React, TypeScript, and Redux, with emphasis on rendering behavior and performance at scale.
- Design platforms or frameworks from scratch and drive adoption across teams that the role does not manage.
- Architect and operate a micro-frontend ecosystem using Module Federation, including boundaries, shared dependencies, versioning, and independent deployment.
- Own application state management strategy across a distributed frontend.
- Design and optimize continuously updating, data-dense UIs involving canvas/WebGL or image rendering, large grids, visualization, and WebSocket/SSE transports.
- Lead frontend performance engineering through profiling, measurement, performance budgets, and concrete optimization.
- Establish architectural governance, design reviews, standards, reference patterns, and guardrails for frontend quality, including AI-assisted development.
- Troubleshoot technical issues and mentor engineers and architects while growing a frontend architecture community of practice.
Requirements
- 10+ years of software engineering experience, including 5+ years in architecture or technical leadership roles for web clients.
- Deep expertise with React, TypeScript, and Redux, including rendering behavior and performance characteristics at scale.
- Proven experience designing large, complex frontend architectures and managing application state at scale.
- Hands-on production experience with micro-frontends and Module Federation, including boundaries, shared dependencies, versioning, and independent deployment.
- Track record of designing platforms or frameworks from scratch and driving adoption across teams not directly managed.
- Experience building data-dense, continuously updating UIs with canvas/WebGL or image rendering, large grids, visualization, and browser-based WebSocket/SSE transports.
- Strong frontend performance engineering experience involving profiling, measurement, performance budgets, and optimization.
- Ability to design around domain models, team topology, release cadence, and legacy constraints.
