Base Salary
$118k - $177k/yr
Responsibilities
- Design, develop, modify, validate, and debug Android, Android Automotive, embedded, edge, and utility software for automotive experience platforms.
- Develop and integrate features for concept vehicles, prototypes, customer showcases, and global trade show demonstrations.
- Perform system integration testing and analyze logs, traces, crashes, timing issues, interface failures, and end-to-end behavior across software and hardware layers.
- Drive root-cause analysis and closure of complex issues involving Android, applications, middleware, vehicle interfaces, operating systems, and embedded components.
- Collaborate with engineering, UX, platform, and partner teams to define technical approaches, manage dependencies, and deliver on project schedules.
- Support software bring-up, integration, validation, and demo-readiness activities on target hardware, concept vehicles, and automotive development platforms.
- Contribute to software architecture and design discussions, review code, mentor junior engineers, and document technical findings and validation results.
Requirements
- A bachelor's degree in Engineering, Information Systems, Computer Science, or a related field plus 2+ years of software engineering or related experience; alternatively, a master's degree plus 1+ year or a PhD in a related field.
- At least 2 years of academic or work experience with programming languages such as C, C++, Java, or Python.
- Preferred experience includes 5+ years of professional software development in Android, Android Automotive, embedded systems, or automotive software platforms.
- Strong hands-on Java or Kotlin programming skills and solid knowledge of C/C++ and Python scripting.
- Strong understanding of the Android framework, services, application lifecycle, IPC, permissions, build systems, debugging tools, and system-level behavior.
- Experience with Android Automotive OS, automotive middleware, vehicle interfaces, CAN, SOME/IP, MQTT, or other in-vehicle communication technologies.
- Experience with system integration testing, issue triage, log analysis, root-cause analysis, and debugging across software, middleware, operating systems, and hardware interfaces.
- Familiarity with Linux, QNX, embedded software environments, cross-platform integration, source control, issue tracking, release processes, and collaborative development practices.
- Strong software design, development, unit testing, debugging, validation, integration, communication, and technical documentation skills.
- Experience with Qt, IoT, cloud-connected vehicle experiences, or AI-assisted software development tools is a plus.
