Base Salary
$212k - $292k/yr
Responsibilities
- Build scalable backend systems for payments, pricing, and invoicing using Python and FastAPI.
- Lead cross-functional technical efforts with product managers, designers, engineers, and adjacent teams.
- Define and maintain SLIs and SLOs with product, infrastructure, and development teams.
- Drive testing, monitoring, observability, performance optimization, and engineering quality.
- Participate in on-call rotations to maintain the reliability of commerce systems.
- Mentor engineers, influence engineering culture, and contribute to technical decision-making and roadmaps.
Requirements
- 7–10+ years of professional backend software development experience.
- Proficiency in Python, relational databases, and Django or FastAPI, with flexibility around programming language.
- Hands-on experience with metrics instrumentation and data-driven performance tuning using tools such as Datadog.
- Experience building and maintaining high-scale, high-traffic backend systems, ideally in commerce, fintech, or healthcare.
- Deep understanding of distributed systems, including data consistency, communication patterns, and service boundaries.
- Strong communication skills and ability to lead cross-functional technical projects.
- Strong focus on quality and risk, including preventing double charges, misbilling, and inconsistent payment states.
- Experience in telehealth or other highly regulated industries is a bonus.
- Deep familiarity with decomposing monolithic systems into well-defined domains is a bonus.
