Responsibilities
- Define and co-own tribe engineering strategy and technical roadmaps with Engineering and Product leadership.
- Lead strategic initiatives from ambiguous problem definition through delivery, launch, and operational stability.
- Design target architectures, evolve core services, and drive migrations and deprecations for scalable, reliable platforms.
- Improve performance, availability, cost efficiency, engineering standards, developer experience, and team productivity.
- Mentor and influence Senior Engineers, Tech Leads, and Engineering Managers while contributing to hiring and engineering culture.
- Own critical technical decisions, including build-versus-buy choices and tooling or vendor evaluations.
- Apply Agentic AI to engineering workflows and establish quality gates and safety nets for AI-assisted or AI-native approaches.
Requirements
- Strong background in software engineering, architecture, and designing or evolving large-scale systems.
- Ability to translate business goals into technical strategy and understand relationships among APIs, services, data flows, and user impact.
- Hands-on experience diving into code, building proofs of concept, and validating ideas with teams.
- Demonstrated end-to-end ownership, strategic thinking, and pragmatic decision-making under uncertainty.
- Strong communication and influence skills, including the ability to align engineering, product, and leadership stakeholders without formal authority.
- Product-minded approach to engineering and comfort working across feature development, system design, architecture evolution, migrations, and process improvements.
- Experience raising engineering standards across teams through mentoring, technical leadership, RFCs, post-mortems, and quality frameworks.
- Hands-on experience with Agentic AI beyond code generation, including quality gates, safety nets, and AI-native engineering workflows.
- Ability to operate effectively in changing and growing environments.
