Responsibilities
- Design and implement search functionality in a Scala ecommerce backend.
- Develop search-related libraries using Elasticsearch and MongoDB.
- Maintain scalable, multi-tenant search infrastructure on Kubernetes using Terraform.
- Develop and test server-side components for usability, functionality, and performance.
- Build REST APIs and scalable architectures involving sharding, replication, load balancing, and failover.
- Collaborate with Product Management and DevOps and participate in worldwide production on-call rotations.
Requirements
- At least 5 years of software engineering experience working with JVM languages.
- Experience related to search, preferably with Elasticsearch.
- Practical experience developing server-side JVM systems and REST APIs.
- Understanding of parallel and asynchronous programming and non-blocking I/O.
- Knowledge of scalable and event-driven architectures, including queues, notification topics, sharding, replication, load balancing, and failover.
- Interest in Scala and pragmatic functional programming patterns; experience with Scala or other functional languages is preferred.
- Experience with infrastructure work and technologies such as Helm, Kubernetes, and Rust is preferred.
- Fluent English for working in international teams and a willingness to learn and apply AI tools.
