Responsibilities

  • Define cloud security standards, guardrails, and reference architectures for Infrastructure, SRE, and Product Engineering.
  • Set the roadmap for high-impact cloud security work and lead cross-functional initiatives from scope through delivery.
  • Mentor security and platform engineers through pairing, design reviews, and feedback.
  • Own threat modeling for new cloud technologies, services, and engineering patterns.
  • Develop secure-by-default architectures and IAM, RBAC, identity-provider, and least-privilege strategies across AWS and GCP.
  • Design cloud-threat detections and SIEM rules and own detection coverage end to end.
  • Serve as a senior incident responder and cloud-forensics lead, converting investigations into playbooks and preventative controls.
  • Own CrowdStrike, Tenable, native cloud security services, and cloud vulnerability management workflows.
  • Secure self-managed Kubernetes control planes, nodes, workloads, admission controls, runtime environments, and CI/CD supply chains.
  • Set standards for Terraform-based Infrastructure-as-Code and pipeline security.
  • Establish patch management, base-image hardening, and version-management practices across containerized and VM-based environments.
  • Lead security for large-scale distributed systems and self-managed data stores such as MongoDB.

Requirements

  • Several years of production ownership of cloud security, including on-call responsibility.
  • Hands-on AWS experience as the primary cloud, working GCP experience, and experience with self-managed Kubernetes.
  • Ability to read and write Python and Terraform.
  • Experience with secure architecture, threat modeling, detection engineering, incident response, cloud forensics, IAM, Kubernetes security, and vulnerability management.
  • Ability to lead ambiguous, organization-wide security initiatives through technical depth, influence, mentorship, and standards-setting.
