Base Salary
$120k - $220k/yr
Responsibilities
- Build the agent runtime for context assembly, tool invocation, model routing, and workflow tracking across multiple agentic products.
- Design and operate evaluation and observability harnesses that process thousands of agent traces daily and identify regressions before release.
- Own context engineering capabilities including retrieval, ranking, compression, and memory, while evaluating RAG, long-context, and structured tool-return approaches.
- Integrate and benchmark new foundation models and select models for agents based on capability and cost.
- Build and ship internal user-facing tools including playgrounds, agent traces, and control panels.
- Collaborate with product teams to take agent concepts from early briefs to working versions in weeks.
Requirements
- Demonstrable experience shipping an AI product with real users, including through a side project, internal tool, open-source agent, or startup MVP.
- Hands-on familiarity with modern AI development tools such as Cursor, Claude Code, Codex, or v0, or equivalent tools.
- Ability to work independently across backend, frontend, deployment, instrumentation, and iteration.
- Practical perspective on agent design, including context management, tool-calling protocols, evaluation strategy, fine-tuning, prompting, and scaffolding tradeoffs.
- Strong proficiency in Python or Go/Node with solid backend engineering experience involving APIs, databases, queues, caches, and scalable system design.
- Sufficient frontend capability with React or Next.js to independently ship functional internal tools.
- Product sensibility and willingness to challenge requirements while considering end-user needs.
