Base Salary
$90k - $120k/yr
Responsibilities
- Lead the design, architecture, and implementation of real-time control algorithms and behaviors for energy storage systems.
- Provide technical direction, guide the development roadmap, and mentor software engineers.
- Optimize memory management, hardware communication, and event management using near-real-time Linux capabilities.
- Design and develop industrial communication drivers, including Modbus TCP and other data acquisition and control protocols.
- Perform control-system simulations, modeling, testing, validation, troubleshooting, and performance optimization.
- Deliver EMS subsystems from concept through completion and maintain design specifications and user manuals.
- Evaluate technologies, tools, and frameworks while contributing to software project planning and delivery.
- Promote software development best practices, including TDD and agile methodologies, and support customer-focused technical development.
Requirements
- Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Engineering, Computer Science, or a related field; advanced degrees or equivalent experience are preferred.
- Minimum of 8+ years of experience working with automation, control, and monitoring systems.
- Strong knowledge of open-loop and closed-loop control algorithm design for millisecond response times.
- Proficiency in C/C++ and real-time operating systems such as embedded Linux and RTOS.
- Expertise with industrial communication protocols such as Modbus TCP.
- Experience with control-system design, modeling, and simulation tools, and familiarity with Root Cause Analysis and Corrective Action methodologies.
- Ability to install, configure, troubleshoot, and maintain electrical and telemetric systems and interpret hardware, electrical/PCB, and mechanical drawings.
- Understanding of control systems for utility-scale photovoltaic or battery energy storage systems, power electronics, battery management systems, and energy storage technologies.
- Preferred experience includes battery energy storage, utility-scale solar, microgrids, distributed energy systems, inverters, grid-connected energy systems, near-real-time Linux, CAN, DNP3, IEC 61850, or MQTT.
- Strong problem-solving, communication, documentation, independent-work, and stakeholder-management skills.
