Base Salary
$140k - $160k/yr
Responsibilities
- Lead the design and operation of real-time voice AI systems supporting 911 telecommunicators.
- Solve complex problems involving low-latency audio, streaming, telephony, LLM orchestration, and human-in-the-loop AI workflows.
- Define engineering standards for reliability, availability, security, performance, testing, and observability.
- Translate customer and operational problems into technical strategy in partnership with product, design, and operations leaders.
- Mentor engineers through technical reviews, design feedback, and pairing.
- Build evaluation, testing, and observability frameworks for AI-assisted systems.
- Lead incident response and post-incident reviews while maintaining runbook quality and on-call health.
- Represent engineering in technical discussions with public safety customers, partners, and Motorola Solutions stakeholders.
Requirements
- At least 5 years of experience in real-time communication systems.
- Deep expertise in Speech-to-Text, Text-to-Speech, Voice Activity Detection, and production LLM, agentic, or RAG systems with evaluations and prompt test harnesses at scale.
- Production software engineering experience with a track record of technical leadership and operating complex systems in high-stakes domains.
- Ability to work across backend systems, infrastructure, AI pipelines, and product surfaces.
- Experience with real-time, concurrent, or distributed systems using Elixir, Go, Python, Rust, or similar languages.
- Experience with PostgreSQL and data modeling at scale.
- Experience with cloud infrastructure on AWS, Azure, or GCP and production operation of containerized applications.
- Relevant experience may include telephony infrastructure, WebRTC, WebSockets, RTP/SRTP, media streaming, low-latency audio, and speech processing.
- Legal authorization to work indefinitely in the United States; sponsorship is not available.
- Preferred domain experience includes public safety, govtech, healthcare, defense, infrastructure, fintech, or other high-trust environments.
