Base Salary

$127k - $203k/yr

Responsibilities

  • Develop embedded software for constrained timing and memory environments to prototype new storage innovations.
  • Design reusable firmware, debug and root-cause issues, and validate firmware architectures and implementations.
  • Create firmware algorithms and mechanisms for FTL and mapping strategies, garbage collection and workload optimization, performance quality of service, and data placement.
  • Perform unit and integration testing to demonstrate code viability.
  • Collaborate with architects and IP leads to define firmware scope and implementation details aligned with milestones.
  • Create metrics, collect data, benchmark new functions, and recommend firmware architecture and implementation approaches based on technical tradeoff analysis.
  • Potentially contribute to system-level design modeling, systems integration, algorithm modeling, benchmarking implementation, and digital signal processing.

Requirements

  • 7+ years of software or firmware development, integration, and validation experience in embedded systems environments.
  • Programming experience in C/C++ and embedded firmware development with a real-time operating system, including hardware-software interactions.
  • Experience with firmware development environments, including compilers, debuggers, emulators, and toolchains.
  • BS or MS in Computer Science or Computer Engineering, or equivalent practical experience.
  • Preferred proficiency in Python and Linux scripting for data parsing, automation, and processing.
  • Preferred experience with enterprise fabric and storage interface protocols such as PCIe, NVMe, Enet, FC, and IB.
  • Preferred experience with source control and code review systems such as Git.
  • Preferred experience developing unit tests, defining and assessing customer requirements, planning projects, estimating work, and managing risks.
  • Ability to investigate different technical areas, solve problems creatively and analytically, communicate technical concepts, manage priorities independently, and collaborate with geographically distributed teams.
