Principal Threat Architect, AI-Era Detection & Response
Trend MicroResponsibilities
- Research AI-era threats, including prompt injection, model misuse, and data leakage, and translate findings into defensive strategy.
- Design scalable threat detection-and-response architectures that integrate with security tooling, data pipelines, and analyst workflows.
- Build and validate prototypes of novel defensive approaches and convert research into concrete, supportable specifications.
- Partner with detection engineering, data science, and platform teams to transition prototypes into production capabilities.
- Provide principal-level technical leadership on core architecture decisions and technical trade-offs.
- Communicate research and architectural direction to technical and non-technical audiences, including leadership.
- Contribute to threat research and applied AI security thought leadership as appropriate.
Requirements
- Bachelor's degree in computer science, engineering, or a related technical field, or equivalent practical experience.
- 8+ years of cybersecurity experience with demonstrated depth in threat detection and response.
- Proven experience designing and delivering complex technical systems from concept through production deployment.
- Hands-on experience architecting scalable systems that integrate with security tooling and operational workflows.
- Working familiarity with AI/ML concepts, their use in threat detection, prevention, or response, and AI-specific threats and frameworks such as MITRE ATT&CK.
- Experience in research, R&D, or emerging-technologies functions and the ability to turn ambiguous problems into concrete specifications.
- Proficiency in at least one production programming language, such as Python.
- Strong written and verbal communication skills.
- Preferred qualifications include a master's degree, direct AI/ML security experience, detection-and-response platform experience, large-scale data-processing and distributed-systems experience, systems-language proficiency, cloud-security experience, research publications or patents, and experience in a vendor CTO office or security research lab.
- Must be legally authorized to work in the United States without current or future employment-based visa sponsorship.
