Base Salary
$102k - $202k/yr
Responsibilities
- Conduct applied research in cybersecurity and AI, including threat analysis, vulnerability research, security architecture, operational security, and agentic-system security.
- Translate partner challenges into technical use cases, research questions, success criteria, experiments, and measurable outcomes.
- Design, build, test, and iterate on prototypes, research environments, tools, automations, and AI-enabled security workflows.
- Identify vulnerabilities, risks, attack paths, and mitigations through threat modeling, design reviews, security testing, data analysis, and experimentation.
- Connect Greenwood Lab experimentation with Microsoft Security research, engineering, products, and emerging AI-enabled security capabilities.
- Collaborate with startups, universities, industry, public-sector, and community partners and share findings through demonstrations, workshops, publications, or other forums.
Requirements
- A master's degree in Statistics, Mathematics, Computer Science, Computer Security, or a related field and 1+ year of relevant experience; or a bachelor's degree in one of these fields and 2+ years of relevant experience; or equivalent experience.
- Relevant experience may include software development lifecycle, large-scale computing, threat analysis or modeling, cybersecurity, vulnerability research, or anomaly detection.
- Ability to meet Microsoft, customer, and/or government security screening requirements, including the Microsoft Cloud Background Check.
- Preferred: doctorate in a relevant field, or a master's degree with 3+ years of relevant experience, or a bachelor's degree with 5+ years of relevant experience, or equivalent experience.
- Preferred: applied cybersecurity research or engineering experience in threat analysis, vulnerability research, threat modeling, security architecture, penetration testing, detection, attack disruption, or related disciplines.
- Preferred: experience with artificial intelligence, machine learning, large language models, AI agents or agentic systems, automation, or AI-enabled cybersecurity workflows.
- Preferred: experience translating ambiguous problems into technical experiments, prototypes, or solutions and collaborating with technical and non-technical stakeholders.
