Responsibilities
- Code new backend developments and enhancements.
- Quality-assure program specifications and code while following code-quality and unit-testing standards.
- Work with product teams to understand complex business requirements.
- Create and automate integration tests where appropriate.
- Investigate and manage complex live incidents and coordinate or escalate defects and problems.
- Present delivered features to clients and conduct peer reviews of developers’ code changes.
- Reduce technical debt and create clear API documentation.
Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, Software Programming, or Information Management.
- At least 2 years of experience in a backend software development role.
- Proficiency in Java, object-oriented programming, and core Java language features.
- Experience with JUnit and Mockito for unit testing, dependency mocking, and maintainable automated tests.
- Hands-on experience with Gradle or Maven for dependency management and project builds.
- Experience with Docker and containerized Java applications.
- Strong understanding of Git, branching strategies, and collaborative development workflows.
- Experience with databases, preferably MongoDB and MySQL.
- Experience working with technologies and architectures in a product environment.
- Frontend knowledge of HTML, JavaScript, CSS, AngularJS, or React is desirable.
- Knowledge or experience with agile delivery methodologies and application development lifecycles is desirable.
- Strong teamwork, initiative, motivation, communication, written English, and ability to work in high-pressure, fast-paced situations.
