Base Salary
$225k - $255k/yr
Responsibilities
- Design and improve fast, reliable, automated build, test, and deployment pipelines.
- Evolve build-system tooling, including Bazel rules and macros.
- Reduce build, test, and deployment latency and address slow or flaky tests.
- Build and standardize automated deployment pipelines across environments.
- Lead company-wide language, framework, dependency, and end-of-life system modernization efforts.
- Provide visibility into dependency age and technical risk across the codebase.
- Expand and integrate AI-assisted development workflows into standard tooling.
- Lead complex projects from requirements gathering through software design, implementation, and collaboration.
- Provide technical guidance to engineering and research staff.
- Mentor and grow individual contributors.
Requirements
- Computer Science or Engineering degree, or equivalent experience.
- 5+ years of software engineering experience.
- Proven software design and implementation experience focused on correctness, robustness, efficiency, and scale.
- Expertise in a modern programming language such as Python, Go, Java, or C++.
- Hands-on experience in a Linux/UNIX environment.
- Experience designing and implementing scalable services, tooling, and APIs used by other engineers.
- Experience with build systems or monorepos such as Bazel or Buck.
- Experience with CI/CD systems, test infrastructure, and deployment automation.
- Familiarity with containerization and deployment technologies such as Docker.
- Experience working with large codebases and building modular, extensible, maintainable software.
- Strong communication skills and the ability to explain complex ideas clearly.
- Preferred experience includes improving developer productivity at scale, dependency management, large-scale modernization, and integrating AI-assisted development tooling.
