Base Salary

$83k - $155k/yr

Responsibilities

  • Design, develop, and maintain production and test PostgreSQL databases.
  • Architect and maintain database instances across multiple runtime environments.
  • Guide and support database deployments using Docker Swarm and related tooling.
  • Provide operations support, investigate incidents and production issues, and complete follow-up actions.
  • Design and implement database access layers and automation tooling in collaboration with the development team.
  • Define and promote engineering, coding, procedure, testing, and code review standards.
  • Participate in and facilitate Agile planning, stand-ups, reviews, and retrospectives.
  • Use Jira for backlog and sprint management and Confluence for technical documentation.
  • Use GitLab for source control, code reviews, and CI/CD integration.
  • Collaborate with product owners, QA, and DevOps to deliver reliable features.
  • Mentor junior and mid-level engineers and provide technical guidance and feedback.

Requirements

  • Level 2 requires a bachelor's degree in Science and 2+ years of relevant experience, or a master's degree and 0+ years of experience.
  • Level 3 requires a bachelor's degree in Science and 5+ years of relevant experience, or a master's degree and 3+ years of experience.
  • An additional four years of experience may be considered in lieu of a degree.
  • Active Top Secret clearance with SCI eligibility is required at the time of application.
  • Significant professional experience as a Database Engineer is required.
  • Experience with relational databases, schema design, SQL, indexing, and performance tuning is required.
  • Advanced PostgreSQL experience including querying, optimization, migrations, and ORMs is required.
  • Experience with Python, Linux environments, and GitLab is required.
  • Experience with software development lifecycles, Agile practices, CI/CD pipelines, DevOps collaboration, and automated testing is required.
  • Practical Jira and Confluence experience in a team setting is required.
  • Rust, Docker, Docker Swarm or similar orchestration platforms, CI/CD pipelines, and Scrum Master experience or certification are preferred.
