Responsibilities
- Define the three-plus-year technical vision for Developer Platform infrastructure, CI/CD pipelines, and observability systems.
- Identify major engineering productivity gaps and convert them into multi-quarter technical roadmaps.
- Drive strategic AI/ML integration into developer workflows, internal processes, and productivity tools.
- Lead cross-cutting platform initiatives involving approximately 10–18 engineers from inception through operation.
- Establish quality, structural, and operational standards across core platform systems.
- Resolve conflicting priorities and build alignment across dependent engineering organizations.
- Influence a unified software development vision across Engineering and mentor Staff Engineers toward Principal-level impact.
- Represent the company through external contributions such as open source, publications, and standards committees.
Requirements
- Typically 12+ years of industry experience in Software Engineering, with significant focus on Developer Platforms, Infrastructure, or Core Tools.
- Experience operating at a scope equivalent to an Engineering Director in strategic impact, influence, and technical ownership.
- Proven ability to define and drive technical strategy for high-impact initiatives across complex, multi-organizational systems.
- Deep expertise in a general-purpose programming language such as Go, Java, C++, Scala, or Python.
- Experience architecting and scaling highly available, fault-tolerant Developer Platforms and Infrastructure.
- Demonstrated understanding of strategically leveraging AI/ML to improve software development and company productivity.
- Strong consensus-building, cross-functional leadership, coaching, mentoring, and stakeholder-influence skills.
- Ability to self-direct, manage time, and advocate for resources supporting engineering velocity and platform stability.
