Base Salary
$219k - $323k/yr
Responsibilities
- Define, architect, design, test, and validate spacecraft compute software.
- Architect and build an orchestration platform for containerized workloads across distributed orbital compute nodes.
- Design scheduling algorithms that optimize power, thermal constraints, workload priority, and data locality.
- Develop control-plane APIs and software for multi-tenancy, resource allocation, and job submission.
- Own software-defined networking and storage strategies.
- Design highly available systems that handle failures, intermittent connectivity, and cross-spacecraft orchestration.
- Lead the technical strategy for the orchestration stack from container runtime and OS-level primitives through service layers.
- Lead validation and testing campaigns and collaborate with hardware and application teams on platform design.
Requirements
- Bachelor’s or master’s degree in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, or a similar technical discipline.
- 10+ years of software engineering experience focused on distributed systems, cloud infrastructure, or large-scale backend services.
- Deep expertise building and operating distributed systems, including cloud orchestration and containerization with technologies such as Kubernetes, Mesos, Nomad, and Docker.
- Experience designing and developing large-scale, highly available software services and APIs.
- Strong system-architecture capabilities in cloud-native technologies.
- Experience providing technical leadership for complex software projects.
- Demonstrated success reducing product latency.
- Preferred experience building custom Kubernetes schedulers, controllers, or operators.
- Preferred knowledge of OS-level resource management, IaaS or PaaS products, service mesh technologies, software-defined networking, autonomous systems, GPUs, accelerators, and distributed computing.
- Willingness to work extended hours and weekends when necessary.
- Must be a U.S. citizen, lawful permanent resident, or eligible for authorization under U.S. export regulations.
