Staff Technical Architect

- Create and maintain the technical strategy, roadmap, and target-state architecture for a global business division.
- Own the division’s technical landscape, standards, integration patterns, and reference architectures.
- Represent the division in the Architecture Review Board and evaluate, approve, or reject architecture proposals.
- Align divisional technology needs with enterprise platforms, standards, and shared capabilities.
- Establish reusable technical standards, patterns, and delivery efficiencies that can scale across divisions.
- Advise senior business and Digital leaders on technical choices, delivery models, and measurable outcomes.
- Define responsible uses of AI, automation, and modern engineering practices across the division.
- Provide technical leadership and mentorship through influence rather than direct authority.
- Uphold expectations for reliability, security, documentation, compliance, observability, and operational excellence.
- Embed with delivery teams as a Forward Deployed Engineer to resolve complex technical challenges and unblock execution.
Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Engineering, Information Systems, or a related field.
- Proven experience in technical architecture, engineering, or technology strategy.
- Experience defining technical strategy, architecture, or a technical landscape for a significant business area, product, or technology domain.
- Deep hands-on expertise in modern engineering practices, cloud platforms, data and integration patterns, APIs, security, and reliability.
- Experience acting as a technical advisor or design authority and guiding teams through influence rather than direct authority.
- Experience partnering with business and Digital stakeholders to shape technical direction and measurable outcomes.
- Advanced degree in a technology, engineering, or related discipline is preferred.
- Experience in regulated, global enterprise environments with complex compliance, privacy, security, and risk requirements is preferred.
- Experience applying AI-enabled delivery, automation, and platform reuse is preferred.
- Strong stakeholder influence, consulting, communication, collaboration, analytical, problem-solving, and decision-making skills.
- Prior consulting experience and Life Sciences industry experience or connections are preferred.
