Responsibilities
- Build and modify responsive web pages and digital assets using clean, accessible, standards-compliant front-end code.
- Localize pages and assets for different markets by updating links, images, text, file paths, directories, server-side includes, and related elements.
- Develop multilingual digital assets and maintain existing client assets according to briefs, coding standards, usability requirements, and tight deadlines.
- Lead, mentor, train, and provide technical guidance to front-end developers while overseeing code quality and successful project delivery.
- Collaborate with QA and project management teams on requirements, scoping, estimates, progress updates, resourcing, and delivery.
- Create technical and functional specifications, take technical briefs from clients, and communicate them to the development team.
- Establish development standards and best practices, share practices with Lead Developers across markets, and support hiring through interviews and training.
- Build performant solutions for mobile devices and stay informed about emerging technologies and development efficiencies.
- Advise project managers on client digital requests and support project and resource planning.
Requirements
- At least 10 years of commercial development experience in an agency environment.
- Experience leading development teams and overseeing successful web project delivery.
- BA degree in computer science, MIS, or a related field, or related experience, with an understanding of data structures and algorithms.
- Fluency in written and spoken English and Japanese.
- Experience creating technical and functional specifications, managing localization processes, and developing responsive websites.
- Strong command-line Subversion skills and experience with SVN, Git, repositories, branch management, continuous integration, and agile development.
- Experience with ticketing systems such as JIRA and breaking work into tasks.
- Expertise in front-end preprocessing with Sass and Browserify, build tools including Grunt and Gulp, and front-end frameworks including Bootstrap and Foundation.
- Expertise in HTML, HTML5, CSS, CSS3, JavaScript, and jQuery, including JavaScript debugging.
- Experience with image manipulation software such as Photoshop and Fireworks and slicing elements from PSD files.
- Knowledge of accessible, SEO-oriented, W3C-compliant coding, progressive enhancement, graceful degradation, usability, email newsletter builds, and mobile optimization.
- Experience working with Bash shell and hand-coding front-end solutions without WYSIWYG tools such as Dreamweaver.
- Strong organizational, interpersonal, communication, attention-to-detail, and problem-solving abilities, with flexibility in a fast-paced environment.
- Willingness and ability to travel as required, sometimes for several weeks at a time.
