Responsibilities
- Architect and implement API gateway and service mesh solutions with enterprise clients.
- Lead technical deep dives, workshops, and proofs of concept demonstrating Kong’s capabilities.
- Resolve critical customer technical issues in collaboration with engineering and product teams.
- Own technical success for strategic accounts from pre-sales engagement through post-implementation.
- Capture customer feedback and influence engineering and product roadmaps.
- Mentor junior engineers and technical account managers.
- Travel approximately 30–50% to client sites and industry events.
Requirements
- 7+ years of experience in a customer-facing technical role such as Forward Deployed Engineer, Solutions Architect, or Technical Consultant.
- Deep expertise in API lifecycle management, microservices architectures, and distributed systems.
- Strong command of Kubernetes, Docker, and public cloud platforms including AWS, Azure, and GCP.
- Proficiency in Golang, Python, Lua, or JavaScript for integrations and custom solutions.
- Experience with open source, APIs, or infrastructure.
- Ability to troubleshoot complex technical issues across multiple software-stack layers.
- Preferred experience with Kong Gateway, Kong Mesh, or other API management and service mesh platforms.
- Open-source contributions or a strong personal technical portfolio are preferred.
- Experience with customers in regulated industries is preferred.
- Cloud platform or Kubernetes certifications are preferred.
