Responsibilities

  • Develop and maintain LabVIEW and Python applications for monitoring and controlling vacuum instrumentation.
  • Contribute to software supporting gas analysers, pressure gauges, and related vacuum equipment.
  • Improve tools for data acquisition, logging, analysis, and visualisation.
  • Integrate new instruments and functionalities into the existing control infrastructure.
  • Support software testing, validation, deployment, follow-up, and maintenance on operational systems.
  • Collaborate with engineers, technicians, and users to translate operational needs into robust software solutions.
  • Document developments, configurations, and procedures on internal documentation platforms.

Requirements

  • Initial experience programming in Python.
  • Interest in scientific and industrial instrumentation, data acquisition, analysis, and control systems.
  • LabVIEW application development experience is advantageous.
  • LabVIEW Real-Time and/or FPGA knowledge is advantageous.
  • Knowledge of Linux environments.
  • Bachelor's or master's degree in Software, Electrical/Electronics Engineering, or a related field.
  • No more than two years of professional experience since graduation.
  • Eligibility for nationals of a CERN Member or Associate Member State.
  • English or French proficiency with a commitment to learn the basics of the other language.
  • Valid driving licence.
  • Applicants must not have previously held a CERN fellow or graduate contract and applicants with a PhD are not eligible.

  • Monthly net stipend of either 5266 or 5793 Swiss Francs depending on degree.
