Base Salary
$143k - $304k/yr
Responsibilities
- Lead work on PostgreSQL internals, including index access methods and operator classes.
- Design and implement indexing strategies for large-scale unstructured and semi-structured data.
- Extend the PostgreSQL query engine with execution-plan analysis, BSON-aware operators, custom scan nodes, and cursor or continuation semantics.
- Design and tune index-pruning strategies while preserving query performance.
- Profile distributed systems and analyze performance bottlenecks.
- Collaborate with PostgreSQL, MongoDB, and DocumentDB open-source communities on roadmap and engine features.
- Conduct and participate in design and code reviews and help shape coding guidelines.
- Drive clarity and alignment across teams and organizations.
Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science or a related technical field and 6+ years of technical engineering experience, or equivalent experience.
- Coding experience in one or more of C, C++, C#, Java, JavaScript, or Python.
- Ability to meet Microsoft, customer, and government security screening requirements, including the Microsoft Cloud Background Check.
- Preferred experience with PostgreSQL or similar enterprise database management system internals, including storage engines and high availability.
- Preferred experience building distributed systems with strong guarantees.
- Preferred 5+ years designing, developing, and shipping system-level features in large-scale cloud applications or backend distributed systems, or 3+ years developing and maintaining high-performance libraries or software focused on large distributed systems involving concurrency, storage systems, or databases.
