Base Salary
$157k - $237k/yr
Responsibilities
- Build and ship buyer-facing search experiences for Etsy desktop and mobile web using PHP, JavaScript, and TypeScript.
- Prototype, optimize, and productionize large-scale improvements including LLM-powered and conversational features.
- Run A/B experiments and use data to determine product priorities.
- Lead moderately complex, loosely scoped projects from technical planning through launch, independently or by leading teammates.
- Collaborate with product managers, designers, researchers, analysts, and ML partners.
- Mentor engineers and improve code quality, performance, and accessibility.
Requirements
- 5+ years of professional software development experience with a strong focus on web frontends.
- Proficiency in JavaScript and TypeScript plus a modern component framework such as Preact.
- Comfort working with server-side PHP.
- Experience writing understandable, testable, and maintainable code in a large codebase.
- Product engineering mindset and experience partnering with product and design teams.
- Analytical approach with experience using experiments and data for product decisions.
- Interest in or experience building LLM-powered or conversational product experiences is a plus.
- Experience with search, discovery, or recommendations products is a plus.
- Strong communication skills and willingness to mentor teammates and peers.
