Base Salary
$181k - $217k/yr
Responsibilities
- Design, ship, and own public-facing APIs and backend services in Go through design, implementation, testing, production rollout, and on-call support.
- Partner with frontend engineers, product managers, security researchers, platform teams, and other stakeholders to deliver customer-facing solutions.
- Turn ambiguous problems into executable technical plans and author design and architectural documents to drive alignment.
- Design for API stability, performance, scalability, usability, and downstream customer and support needs.
- Mentor and grow engineers through code review, pairing, and technical leadership.
- Participate in an on-call rotation, including occasional nights and weekends.
- Use AI coding agents as part of the daily development workflow.
Requirements
- At least five years of relevant experience designing and building reliable, large-scale backend systems.
- Five or more years of production Go experience as a primary programming language.
- Three or more years of experience building public APIs for external consumers.
- Experience owning multi-week engineering efforts end-to-end, from design documentation through post-launch.
- Strong RESTful API design judgment, including resource modeling, versioning, idempotency, error semantics, pagination, and OpenAPI.
- Ability to design effective testing and observability approaches and make sound technical decisions.
- Preferred experience operating security products such as WAF, bot protection, DDoS protection, or application security products.
- Preferred working knowledge of API-scale authentication technologies and concepts including RBAC, OAuth, JWT, and SAML.
- Ability to work during Pacific Time core business hours and support occasional nights and weekends for on-call coverage.
