Responsibilities
- Develop and test software integrating sensors and embedded processors into aircraft, payloads, software-defined radios, and robotic systems.
- Design and implement prototype and production software using established tools and practices.
- Write system requirements, test plans, diagnostic tools, and validation tests.
- Analyze and troubleshoot complex software and hardware systems, including flight-test equipment.
- Support hardware selection and recommend processing, memory, and storage requirements.
- Develop proof-of-concept demonstrations and transition software to production and certification.
- Provide development updates, estimate milestones, and scope work with project and program management.
- Participate in design reviews and multidisciplinary development teams.
Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Aerospace Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, or a related field, or equivalent combination of education, training, and experience.
- Minimum of 5–8 years of relevant experience.
- Expertise in Python, C, C++11, C++ STL, and/or OpenCL, along with experience troubleshooting complex systems.
- Knowledge of Visual Studio, Eclipse, or similar IDEs and defect-tracking tools.
- Experience with RS-485, RS-232, CAN, I2C, SPI, and USB protocols.
- Demonstrated mathematical and analytical skills.
- U.S. citizenship is required, and the applicant must presently hold or be capable of obtaining a U.S. security clearance.
- Preferred qualifications include an advanced degree, STM32 and RTOS experience, Video4Linux, Ubuntu Linux kernel work, Linux/ARM driver development, ROS, ArduPilot, PX4, and hands-on UAV, R/C aircraft, or lightweight robotic-system design and build experience.
- Strong communication, teamwork, initiative, ownership, and performance-improvement skills are desired.
